![]() ![]() In April of 2017, Re-Logic announced that development of the game would no longer continue with the help of Engine Software. Set in an alternate dimension within the Terraria universe, Terraria: Otherworld places the player (and a "rag-tag band of survivors") in a struggle to restore a corrupted world. It was described as an open-world sandbox RPG/strategy game that would take a novel approach to the Terraria experience to explore "what might have been". It was originally announced by Re-Logic and Engine Software. Terraria: Otherworld was intended to be a new spinoff game of the Terraria franchise. For Otherworldy music, see Music#Otherworldly Tracks. ![]() After all, Labor of Love is just the latest in a long line of expansions touted as the game’s “final update."Otherworld" redirects here. ![]() Regardless of the truth behind Redigit’s rather lovely artwork, it serves as a welcome reminder that plans for a sequel to Terraria are in the works – but don’t expect to see it anytime soon. Another points to the biome of pink, cream, and brown segments and asks, “Why isn’t anyone talking about Neapolitan Cave?” Others suggest the post may be framed as a cheeky nod to Noita – another game that sees you conjuring through underground caverns with all sorts of gadgets and spells before your inevitable and catastrophic death – while one particularly observant person simply notes, “Ball’s biome. “The area under the mushroom caves reminds me of the aquatic depths from Thorium mod,” says one commenter. Joke or not, users on the game’s subreddit have embraced the post, contributing all sorts of ideas about what might appear in another Terraria. Presumably unsatisfied with the already high level of excitement in the Terraria community surrounding the Labor of Love update, Spinks took the opportunity to post some early Terraria 2 concept art for “what T2’s world map could look like.” Spinks says, “that’s crazy gross, so forgive me.” It’s unclear how much of the post is legitimate design considerations versus another one of his elaborate jokesbut the MS Paint-style drawing has certainly sent the sandbox game community into a frenzy considering what the sequel might hold. Asked about the feature, Spinks says, “I know I can be stubborn at times, but once people framed it as an accessibility issue, I knew we had to choose it.” Another fun spoiler was dropped into the game mode – the addition of a recreation of the painting created by Terraria fans during Reddit’s r/place community art project. The first is a very welcome accessibility change, with Spink’s revealing that an autofire button has been added for non-auto weapons and equipment. The team adds that barring issues or delays in platform submissions, expect it Terraria 1.4.4 update Labor of Love release date to fall at the end of September.īefore we move on to Terraria 2 “news”, there are a few other quick announcements for 1.4.4. Speaking of ports, Re-Logic says it plans to make 1.4.4 the first simultaneous Terraria update release across all platforms - PC, console, and mobile. Firstly, work on the PC version has finished and has reached ‘code freeze’ – meaning nothing new is being added and the remaining work is only on bug fixes, tweaks and ports. The Terraria mode in August gameplay post is fairly light, but shares a few important details about the progress of the Terraria 1.4.4 update. However, that’s not enough anticipation for the game’s lead developer, Andrew ‘Redigit’ Spinks, who has sparked speculation among fans of one of the best crafting games by sharing some early concept art for the Terraria 2 world map. It’s an exciting time for Terraria fans, with a Terraria 1.4.4 update release window now announced at the end of September as the development of the Labor of Love update reaches the endgame. ![]()
